One of the most common questions we hear at Yogis Academy is: "Is aerial yoga actually safe?" The short answer is yes, when it is taught by a certified instructor using properly rigged equipment - which is exactly what we provide.
Our aerial hammocks are rated to support significantly more than an average body weight and are anchored to certified ceiling mounts, inspected regularly for wear and tear. Every class begins with a safety briefing so new students understand exactly how to enter, hold, and exit the fabric.
Aerial yoga is generally safe for most healthy adults, but a few groups should consult a doctor first: people with glaucoma or other eye pressure conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent surgery, or who are in the first trimester of pregnancy or beyond. Always inform your instructor of any injuries before class.
For beginners, instructors keep inversions minimal in the first few sessions and always spot you during any pose where your head goes below your heart. You are never asked to attempt something beyond your comfort level.
With the right guidance, aerial yoga is one of the more controlled and supported forms of movement practice available - the hammock is there to catch you, not to challenge you unnecessarily.
